Myrrh was very popular in the ancient world and was used as a medicine by the Chinese and Egyptians. Egyptian use it as part of their sun-worshipping ritual and mummification. It was used in cosmetics, while Greek soldiers took a small, cylindrical glass bottle of Myrrh oil with them into battle, to stop bleeding wounds.
Myrrh essential oil is grounding and centering oil, both stimulating and invigorating the emotions. The properties of myrrh help to strengthen confidence in overcoming difficulties and enhance focus, while providing a strong sense of purpose.
Myrrh essential oil makes an excellent expectorant against excessive mucus in the lungs and helps to clear ailments such as colds, catarrh, coughs, sore throats and bronchitis. It is used also for diarrhea, indigestion, flatulence (intestinal gas) and haemorrhoids (piles).
It makes a very good essential oil to care for teeth and gums, especially for mouth and gum disorders, such as mouth ulcers, pyorrhea (the ligaments and bones that support the teeth become inflamed and infected), gingivitis (gum inflammation), spongy gums and sore throats, due to its antiseptic properties.

It is very effective in treating of chronic wounds and ulcers and can be blended in cream and lotion. It speeds up wound healing and heals up athlete’s foot, weeping eczema, bedsores, deeply chapped and cracked skin, boils, carbuncles, acne and all other skin ailments.
It can be included when mixing in mouthwash to fight gum diseases, dental infections and bad breath.
Myrrh essential oil be of a great use when diluted on a cold compress for sores, skin care and wounds.

Benzoin, Frankincense, Lavender, Sandalwood and Clove.
Massage: 2 drops to 10 ml carrier oil
Bath: 5 drops in full drawn bath
Ceramic Burner/Aroma Lamp: 4-5 drops in a bowl of water
Essential Oil Diffuser: 5-10 drops in water

It is best to always dilute Myrrh essential oil with a base or carrier oil, lotion or water before applying or spraying it to the skin and to refrain for applying it pure on the skin.
